BASAVESHWAR STATUE

 BASAVESHWAR Known for Socio-Religious Reforms, Anubhava Mantapa, Vachana Literature and Lingayat Movement in south India. Basavanna (ಬಸವಣ್ಣ) was Born 1105 CE Basavanna Bagewadi, in Bijapur district, Karnataka, India Died in 1167 CE Kudalasangama, Karnataka, India

 

Basavanna Statue A 108-feet tall giant statue of 12th century social reformer Basavanna, only one of its kind in the world, which was dedicated to the humanity on October 28,2012 at Basavakalyan in Bidar district

Basava Dharma Peetha has constructed 108 feet tall statue of Basavanna in Basavakalyan. Basavanna was one of the most influential and powerful philosophers and poets in Hinduism who showed the true meaning of love and righteousness to the people and spread social awareness regarding various taboos in society.


BASAVAKALYAN FORT

Basavakalyana fort, earlier known as Kalyana fort, is located in Bidar district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Its historic importance is dated to the 10th century. The capital of Chalukyas was also shifted from Manyakheta to Kalyana in the 10th century. The fort, integral to the Basavakalyana town, is also famous as Karmabhoomi of Basavanna (founder of Lingayatha community) and hundreds of other Sharanas (saints of Lingayatha community).

Basavakalyana (known in the history as Kalyana) with its fort was the centre of a great social and religious movement, in the 12th century, because of Basaveshwara, the social reformer. It became a seat of learning. BasaveshwaraAkka MahadeviChannabasavannaSiddarama and many more Sharanas are associated with Basavakalyana. 
ANUBHAV MANTAP

Anubhava Mantapa, established by Basavanna in the 12th Century C.E. is located in Basavakalyan in Bidar district of Karnataka. It is the first religious parliament in the world, whose literal meaning is "experience pavilion", and was an academy of mystics, saints and philosophers of the lingayat faith in the 12th century. It was the fountainhead of all religious and philosophical thought pertaining to the lingayat. It was presided over by the mystic Allama Prabhu and numerous Sharanas from all over Karnataka and other parts of India were participants. This institution was also the fountainhead of the Vachana literature which was used as the vector to propagate Veerashaiva religious and philosophical thought. Other giants of veerashaiva theosophy like Akka MahadeviChannabasavanna and Basavanna himself were participants in the Anubhava Mantapa. The Anubhava Mantapa is also called the Mahaamane.
